Albert Kosower started working at Harbord Bakery in 1929. When his owner became ill in 1945, he took over the business and made it his own. Since then, this bakery, one of the oldest Jewish bakeries in he city, has been a family run business. When you open the front door, the aroma of fresh Hallah (egg bread), crusty bagels, cheese buns, croissants and other pastries fill the air. They also carry mousse cakes, cheese cakes, tarts, a dairy case with a variety of cheeses, jams and preserves, and more. More
Having just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary, Tre Mari Bakery was founded by Mary and Jim Deleo. This Italian bakery serves up its clients a variety of crusty breads, buns, and baguettes, as well as trays full of delicious Italian cookies and desserts. They also have a hot table with everything from pizza to lasagna and paninis, a cheese and deli counter, and they also do catering too. More
This quaint little bakery is owned by Leah Kalish, and has been on St. Clair Ave. West for just over a year. This very modern and trendy looking bakery carries everything from pastries, brownies, cookies and more, all made from scratch. Leah makes her own potato chips too! This bakery also does catering and wholesale, as well as, wedding cakes. Her motto: “Life is short ... eat dessert first!” More
Established in 1978, Patachou is a French bakery and pastry-shop, with real french pastries and baguettes. They’re hugely known for its classics: cheese croissants, butter croissants, tarts and eclairs - all very yummy and oh so delicious. Also worth trying are the more complex opera and mocha cakes. They’re great for breakfast or brunch, and also serve savory foods like a variety of quiches, chicken pot pies, sandwiches and salads with a French flavour. Everything is very healthy, has no trans fat, and is really homemade. More
