Best of Toronto’s Lounges/Bars
Back in the day, it was difficult to find a lounge or bar type place where you could go hang out with your friends on a Friday or Saturday night, without walking into a grungy looking establishment. Today, Toronto boasts a few places that are stylish, offer good food, and always have a full house.
Two blocks north of Eglinton, nicely tucked away, is Spacco Restaurant & Bar. Spacco serves up mouth-watering pasta dishes like their jumbo ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta, spicy fettucine with ground italian sausage, and gnocchi in fresh basil tomato sauce or bolognese sauce. Their delicious pizzas and calzones are baked in a wood-burning oven, and don some cool Italian names like Cornuto, Ruffiano, Paesano Pepperoni, Rompa Palle, and my personal fave, Culo Rosso with Italian sausage, hot banana peppers and caramelized shallots. Yummy. The staff are friendly and ready to serve you. The atmosphere is chic and upscale, yet casual, with seven pool tables available for your pleasure. So ladies, whether your in heels or flats, this place is fabulous for a girl’s night out! And their spacious summer patio is perfect to enjoy a drink on a hot summer’s night. More
Music lovers and food enthusiasts have made Alleycatz a popular dining and party destination. Their menu has a Mediterranean flair featuring dishes such as Blackened Sea Bass and gourmet risottos, and a grilled calamari brushed with a bagna calda olive oil, cured tomatoes and kalamata olives - a definite must try. They also have a fun martini line-up including a fan fave called “Orgasmic Catz,” combining raspberry vodka, Cointreau, Champagne, lime and cranberry. After dinner, a live band and DJ take to the stage lets the music take control. Salsa Mondays offer free lessons, on Tuesdays stop by Swing, Wednesdays are set for Jazz lovers, and Thursdays to Saturdays you can expect a mix of Top 40 sounds. On Sundays, Alleycatz is used for corporate and private functions from weddings, baptisms, bar mitzvahs and more. More
