Viva Tastings
If you’re looking for an extra curricular activity to fill some time, try taking up a cooking class. It’s a great time to get to know people, meet up with friends you haven’t seen in a while, or brush up on your cooking skills. Before I walked into their kitchen the sweet smell of carrot cake and cinnamon washed over me. Viva Tastings has been around for nine years. Their culinary classes are three hours long and hands-on. Included in the cost are the recipes, the instruction by an experienced chef, a meal at the end and one glass of wine. Most classes are taught by Cordon Bleu trained chef, artist and caterer Karen Viva-Haynes and assisted by Anne Hynes, also Cordon Bleu trained. These ladies know how to have fun in the kitchen, because food should be enjoyed, whether you’re cooking it or eating it.
Dish Cooking Studio
A lot of people say food usually tastes better when someone else cooks it for you, but where’s the fun in that? There’s nothing like putting on your apron and trying out a recipe for the first time. Dish Cooking Studio, originally owned by Trish Magwood, will teach you how to prepare a variety of foods from different cultures like Italian, French and Thai. They will also teach you the basics, as well as, specific techniques like knife skills. The classes are fun and very interactive. But that’s not all they incorporate in their classes. You’re taught that food is a beautiful thing to share with friends - it’s about sharing passions for the love of food. Dish Cooking Studio is a culinary destination for people to connect and have fun together!
